Hapuna is routinely ranked as the best beach on the Big Island and one of the top beaches in the United States. The wide, crescent-shaped white sand beach stretches half a mile along the Kohala Coast with crystal-clear water ideal for swimming, bodyboarding, and snorkeling.
Tip: The state park has ample parking ($5 fee) and facilities. Come before noon for the calmest water — afternoon winds can kick up surf.
