A marine life conservation district on Maui's northwest coast, Honolua Bay offers some of the best snorkeling on the island when conditions are calm (typically summer). In winter, it transforms into one of Hawaii's premier big-wave surf spots. The short trail through a jungle canopy to reach the bay is an experience in itself.
Tip: Snorkel in summer (May–September) when the bay is glassy and calm. In winter, watch world-class surfers from the cliff overlook instead.
